Digital signage - content management

Digital signage is an excellent communication tool, and there are ways to fully leverage its use and its impact. From managing content to creating clear messages, this article explains some ways to optimize your digital signage.

Regular content updates

If you want to engage your audience, avoid displaying content that is no longer relevant. An effective way to avoid doing this is to apply start and end dates when adding content in the digital signage software. This way, you will make sure that your content will no longer appear once the event is finished.

Clear, concise content

Even if you choose to extend the display time for the content, it is especially important to avoid overloading your digital signage screens with too much information. If too much content is displayed at once, people won’t bother reading it, and their attention will go elsewhere. Readers will pay appropriate attention if you use visual elements and short messages. If you really need to share a long message, you could focus on only sharing the essentials on the display, then send a detailed email for additional information; in this case, the digital signage will act as a reminder. Another option is to add a QR code, which will enable your audience to find more information, or even include the name and contact information of the appropriate person if they are interested and want to ask questions. In short, be concise and keep your messages simple.

Content maintenance

Over time, playlists can become cluttered with expired or deactivated content. That’s why we recommend cleaning out content a few times a year. It could also be worth it to sort folders containing image and video files, as this will ensure the environment will stay clean and organized.

Seasonal content

Share health and safety content related to the current season. For instance, display advice about wearing ice cleats when sidewalks are icy or removing snow from your vehicle to prevent accidents during winter, or highlight the importance of staying hydrated during the summer months. Furthermore, festive, holiday-related content (Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween, Christmas, etc.) can be added to these messages, and is available through the ITESLIVE platform.

By following these best practices, you will be able to fully benefit from the potential of digital signage and share relevant, clear and engaging messages with your audience.
