Recent media reports regarding a vulnerability affecting certain versions of PHP have raised legitimate questions from several organizations and customers.
Our teams have conducted an analysis of our environments to assess our level of exposure and determine the appropriate measures to implement.
We confirm that certain isolated components of our platform use PHP. Following this analysis, the required updates have been applied, and the necessary validations have been performed to ensure that the affected components continue to operate securely.
To date, no exposure or impact on our clients’ services has been identified.
Our analysis also confirmed that the affected components:
- are isolated from our main production environment;
- do not have access to sensitive internal resources;
- are subject to continuous monitoring;
- are maintained in accordance with our vulnerability and security patch management processes.
A Risk-Based Approach
Software vulnerabilities are a reality for any organization using modern technologies. Whether it’s operating systems, web browsers, cloud platforms, or programming languages, security patches are released regularly.
The key question, therefore, is not simply whether a particular technology is in use, but rather how risks are assessed and managed when a new vulnerability is discovered.
At ITESMEDIA, every security alert is analyzed to, among other things:
- assess our actual level of exposure;
- to identify the systems potentially affected;
- determine the necessary corrective measures;
- assess the risks to our clients and their data.
This approach is part of our information security management system and our cybersecurity framework, which is recognized by ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification. In fact, we achieved our most recent recertification without any non-conformities.
Security as an Ongoing Commitment
Cybersecurity is not a static state, but a process of continuous improvement.
Vulnerabilities highlighted in media reports underscore the importance of constant monitoring, proactive patch management, and an architecture designed to limit potential impacts when a risk is identified.
This philosophy guides our daily practices and is also reflected in the initiatives we implement to continuously strengthen the security of our platforms. These include, in particular, the deployment of multi-factor authentication (MFA) and the adoption of security controls aligned with industry best practices.
We will continue to actively monitor threats and take the necessary measures to ensure the security, availability, and reliability of the services we provide to our customers.
